I reckon that they'll change the weekly meeting to a Wednesday so that the gap between spiritual food isn't so great. That will put a stop to Wednesday being everyone's favourite night of the week!

News Flash! Letter from Governing Body announcing meeting schedule changes
by mizzarco inthe watchtower meeting (this congregation meets on sat) that i just listened to via phone conference was cut 10 minutes short to have a letter read to all the congregation.
here are the highlights:.
- the governing body realizes that the pressures of this system of things are getting heavier on his people.. - just like the governing body of the 1st century, we do not want to add additional burden to you either.

Can anyone tell me why they are waiting until January to implement this change?
As another poster commented - why keep the burden going for another 8 months? -

sorry if this has been discussed before, but can anyone confirm if the official line has changed with instructions to elders on reporting cases of child abuse to the authorities?

Newbies & Lurkers - Let's Get to Know You - Please Tell Us Your Story
by flipper inat the suggestion of my sis named dinah ( thanks dinah ) we thought it would be good to invite newbies , lurkers , or any others junior members etc.
to tell their stories of how they got out of the jehovah's witnesses or what you dealt with before getting out of which you had to overcome !
life is hard- we all have our stories , but on this board are many caring people who will be here for you if you need a soft place to land after being controlled by the jehovah's witnesses mindset.

Long last letter to dad...please comment-not mailed yet
by dawg indad, .
i doubt youll even read this letter since it comes from your son, a son youve abandoned over your religious views, but i wanted to write you one final letter to see if theres any hope that you can come to your senses as far as this religion goes and we can renew our relationship.
im doing this because i care for you and mom deeply and feel very much distressed that you two refuse to see anyones opinion as being factual other than your own when it concerns the jw religion.

Dawg - so sorry for all your pain. This whole thing really stinks when we can't communicate with the ones we love. One of the other posters hit the nail on the head though - he is blind right now, he's not capable of understanding the bigger picture.
I think the postcard idea is the best. You could start it off by saying "Dad, this is the last time you will ever hear from me...(and then the loving bit)". Who knows what will happen next....
Sometimes when we withdraw our attention from someone completely, they come looking for it. Not likely, but why keep opening up yourself to more pain? Time to let go and for him to come to you, however long that takes.

Shropshire Star news editor examines issues behind death of JW Emma Gough
by AndersonsInfo inshropshire starapril 9, 2008. why would loving faith allow death?.
features news editor neil thomas examines the issues behind the tragic death of new mum emma gough.. words written by heaven knows who and attributed to moses have brought about the apparently needless death of a young shropshire mother, and blighted many other lives, more than 3,000 years later.. far-fetched, possibly.
yet, how else are we to interpret the death of emma gough?.

For what its worth, I agree with those that believe a person has the right to choose or refuse any medical treatment, however if you decide to bring new life into this world then you have a responsibility to look after yourself even more for those first formative years of a child's life. Without a doubt, a mother being there for her child is an undeniable need and the lack of a mother has serious repercussions.
Also, when one is under mind control it's equivalent to being drugged - Emma Gough was INCAPABLE of making a fully informed decision under these circumstances. I believe she is not to blame. The blame lies fully with the WTS.
Prior to my Caesarean a couple of years ago, I signed my life away in the event of complications needing a transfusion - I would've taken all fractions but was so fully indoctrinated to believe that having one would be such a serious sin that I just couldn't do it, that together with the all the drip feeding down the years that blood transfusions are like poison to your body. So, like many others on this board, it could've been me leaving my boys without a mother. Call me naive but that conditioning was so powerful I would've made the biggest mistake of my life. I know all my old friends who are still dubs would die tomorrow if they needed a transfusion, regardless of who they left behind.
However, I don't see, in the interests of protecting the right for an individual to decide medical treatment that there is any way around this one and so many more naive, indoctrinated ones will continue to die while the WTS continues unabated (not helped by all the faders, may I add).
All this debating is just p*ss**g in the wind unless someone makes a stand and does something to prevent this from happening again. -
